Check the cause
Inspect all pneumatic or hydraulic lines from the tractor to the trailer coupling for leaks, damaged hoses, loose fittings, or worn gladhands
Verify that the tractor's air compressor or hydraulic pump is generating and maintaining adequate supply pressure to the iTBV system
Inspect the wiring harness connecting to the iTBV and its integrated pressure sensor for chafed wires, pushed-out pins, or corrosion
Check the iTBV software version (updating to version 1.3.0.0, part number 51595354, may resolve plausibility logic errors)
Use a diagnostic tool to monitor live actual pressure versus commanded pressure on the control line while driving to verify sensor accuracy
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine. Chock the wheels.
Relieve Pressure
Safely bleed off any residual air or hydraulic pressure from the trailer brake system before opening any lines.
Repair Leaks (If Found)
If the diagnostic checks revealed a leaking tube (e.g., the tube from the ITBV to the Solenoid Valve), disconnect the fittings, replace the damaged line, and torque to OEM specifications.
Replace the iTBV (If Faulty)
Disconnect the main electrical harness connector from the iTBV ECU. Disconnect the supply and control lines from the valve block. Cap the lines to prevent contamination. Unbolt the iTBV assembly from its mounting bracket. Install the new iTBV assembly and reconnect the pneumatic/hydraulic lines and electrical harness.
Calibrate and Clear Codes
Connect the CNH EST diagnostic tool. Perform the End of Line (EOL) configuration and iTBV calibration procedure as required by the MTA CCM & APH Stage V MR manual. Clear the 12806 fault code.
Test Drive
Test drive the tractor above the speed threshold and apply the brakes to ensure the actual pressure meets the commanded pressure and the code does not return.
