Case IH 12884 – MTA CCM & APH (Cab Control Module & Armrest/Auxiliary Module) Stage V MR: System Undervoltage (Controller)
Issue description
Voltage supplied to the specific control module has dropped below the minimum operating threshold required for the controller to function correctly.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- MAXXUM T4E
- Case IH Farmall 40, 45, and 50 Tractors
- Case IH Farmall 115U Efficient Power Tractors
Check the cause
Verify the battery is holding a proper charge (12.6V resting) and passes a load test.
Check the alternator output while the tractor is running to ensure it is supplying adequate voltage (typically 13.5V - 14.5V) to the system.
Inspect the main power feeds, cab ground straps, and chassis grounds for corrosion, looseness, or damage.
Disconnect the harness at the Cab Control Module (CCM) / Trailer Brake Controller and measure the voltage at the power supply pins. Compare this reading to the voltage at the battery to check for voltage drop across the harness.
Repair steps
Secure Power Supply
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable before servicing electrical components.
Clean Connections
Clean the battery terminals and tighten all primary ground connections between the battery, chassis, and cab.
Inspect Fuses/Relays
Locate the cab power distribution box. Inspect the fuses and swap the main power relays supplying the CCM/APH to rule out a pitted or failing relay causing intermittent voltage drops.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If the pin-out test revealed a voltage drop, trace the power supply wire back from the controller to the fuse panel. Repair any chafed wires, corroded connectors, or loose pins.
Replace Faulty Charging Components
If the alternator or battery failed the initial diagnostic checks, replace them.
Clear Codes and Test
Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and use a diagnostic scan tool to clear code 12884. Start the tractor and operate the armrest controls/trailer brakes to verify the code does not return.

Battery
Generic 12V Agricultural Heavy-Duty Battery (Group size specific to the Farmall model).
Main Power Relay / Fuses
Generic OEM electrical relays (Standard CNH micro-relays).
Cab Control Module (CCM) / Trailer Brake Controller
If the module itself has an internal short drawing down the voltage, it will need replacement (Part numbers are highly specific to the tractor's serial number and cab configuration; consult a Case IH parts catalog with your VIN).
