Case IH 13 – Electronic Instrument Cluster (ICU / Dashboard): Engine Shut-Down Output Short to a + Voltage

Instrument Cluster is inoperative (no display on the instrument cluster when the key-start switch is turned on).

   Perform a battery test by cranking the engine to verify sufficient charge, as low voltage can cause the cluster to become inoperative

   Inspect Fuse 9 in the fuse box to check if it is blown

   Test the Fuel Shut-Off Relay (KF) by measuring the resistance of the relay coil at terminals 85 and 86 (should not be open or less than 95 ohms)

   Check the harness and connectors by disconnecting the instrument panel connector (e.g., C081) and measuring resistance between the harness pins at the cluster and the relay holder for a short to + voltage or open circuit

   Resolve Power Issues

   If the battery fails a load test, charge or replace it. If Fuse 9 is blown, renew the fuse and recheck the instrument cluster function.

   Replace the Relay

   If the Fuel Shut-Off Relay coil tests out of specification (open circuit or incorrect resistance), install a new relay and retest the system.

   Repair Wiring

   If a short to + voltage or an open circuit is found between the instrument panel connector and the relay holder, locate the damaged section of the wiring harness and repair it. Clean the wiring loom to the instrument cluster connector pins using contact spray.

   Replace the Instrument Cluster

   If the battery, fuses, relay, and wiring harness all test perfectly fine, the internal circuitry of the instrument cluster has failed. Remove and renew the instrument panel.

   Clear Codes

   Once the root cause has been rectified, clear the error code using the diagnostic switch/tool and test the tractor for normal operation.
