13011 - UCM

Case IH 13011 - UCM – UCM: Supply voltage 12VB - voltage too low

Issue description

The 12-volt power supply circuit designated as "12VB" has dropped below the acceptable operational threshold at the controller's input.

Applies to these machines

  • VESTRUM CVX
  • Puma Series tractors
  • Magnum Series tractors
  • Maxxum Series tractors
  • Steiger Series tractors
  • Early Riser Planters
  • Axial-Flow Flagship Combines

Check the cause

  1. Check the system battery voltage and ensure the main power connections are clean and tight

  2. Inspect the fuse and relay box for the specific fuses and relays supplying the 12VB circuit (often tied to UCM power rails, radio +12V illumination/ignition, or auxiliary inputs)

  3. Inspect the wiring harness connecting the power distribution panel to the UCM for open circuits, high resistance, or shorts to ground

  4. Check the UCM connections (typically Deutsch DTM or AMP JPT connectors) for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or moisture

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect the battery

Disconnect the battery before performing any electrical repairs to avoid dangerous electrical shocks or further module damage.

  2. Replace blown fuses or faulty relays

Replace any blown fuses or faulty relays on the 12VB circuit. Never use a fuse that has been repaired or bypassed, and always replace a faulty fuse with another of the exact equivalent rating.

  3. Repair or replace damaged wiring

If the harness is damaged, repair or replace the affected sections of the wiring supplying 12VB power to the UCM.

  4. Clean UCM harness connectors

Clean the UCM harness connectors with electrical contact cleaner and ensure they are securely seated.

  5. Reconnect battery and turn key ON

Reconnect the battery and turn the key ON.

  6. Replace UCM if necessary

If the wiring and power supply are confirmed to be delivering a healthy 12V under load to the UCM pin, but the code persists, the UCM itself likely has an internal hardware fault and must be replaced.

  7. Clear stored fault codes

Clear the stored fault codes. On tractors equipped with the ADIC (Advanced Display Instrument Cluster), this can be done via the "H" menu. Use the "HC" menu to erase stored error codes without erasing calibration information, or perform an "H8" operation to clear both calibration values and stored error codes by resetting the EEPROM.
