13024 - UCM

Case IH 13024 - UCM – UCM (Universal Control Module) or Instrument Cluster: Supply voltage 12VU2 - voltage too low.

Issue description

The control module has detected that the voltage at the 12VU2 power input circuit has dropped below the normal operating threshold.

Applies to these machines

  • VESTRUM CVX
  • Puma Series (125, 170, 185, 200, 210, 215, 230)
  • Magnum Series (235-340 Series 4)
  • Steiger Series
  • Early Riser Planters

Check the cause

  1. Verify the voltage level on the main power (PWR) supply from the tractor to ensure the system is receiving adequate base voltage (check batteries and alternator output).

  2. Check for a blown fuse. Specifically, inspect 'PWR fuse 2' in the UCM enclosure, which protects the 12VU2 circuit.

  3. Check if the PWR control relay in the UCM enclosure has failed to operate.

  4. Inspect the wiring harness for the 12VU2 circuit for open circuits, corrosion, or shorts to ground.

Repair steps

  1. Power down machine

Turn off the machine and engage the parking brake. Disconnect the battery ground if you will be performing invasive electrical testing or replacing components.

  2. Locate UCM enclosure

Access the UCM enclosure and open the fuse/relay panel.

  3. Inspect and replace fuse

Locate 'PWR fuse 2' (or the specific fuse designated for the 12VU2 circuit on your model's fuse diagram). Pull the fuse and test it with a multimeter for continuity. If it is open (blown), replace it with a new fuse of the exact same amperage.

  4. Test power relay

If the fuse is intact, locate the PWR control relay in the UCM enclosure. Swap it with a known good relay of the same type (e.g., a lighting relay) to see if power is restored to the 12VU2 circuit. If it is, replace the faulty relay.

  5. Check circuit voltage

Use a multimeter to measure the voltage at the 12VU2 input pin on the UCM connector. If the voltage is still low despite a good fuse and relay, trace the wiring harness back to the power source to locate and repair any damaged wires, chafing, or loose ground connections.

  6. Clear codes

Reconnect the battery, turn the key ON, and use the machine's display or an EST (Electronic Service Tool) diagnostic tool to clear the fault codes. Verify that code 13024 does not return.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • PWR Fuse 2

Generic automotive blade fuse (amperage depends on the specific model's fuse block; refer to the fuse panel lid).

  • PWR Control Relay

    Generic 12V automotive relay (typically a 4-pin or 5-pin micro/mini relay).

  • Universal Control Module (UCM)

If internal failure of the module is determined, the UCM must be replaced. Must be matched to the machine's serial number.
