Case IH 13032 – INST or INST2: Hydraulic Oil Temperature sensor voltage is too high (open circuit, short to +V)
Issue description
The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the hydraulic oil temperature sensor that exceeds the maximum expected threshold. This is typically caused by an open circuit (a broken wire or disconnected sensor) or the signal wire shorting directly to a positive voltage source (+V).

Check the cause
Locate the hydraulic oil temperature sensor in the PFC pump inlet manifold or directly on the hydraulic reservoir tank
Inspect the sensor's electrical connector for disconnected plugs, backed-out pins, corrosion, or moisture
Trace the wiring harness from the sensor back to the Instrumentation Controller to check for rubbed, chafed, or broken wires (open circuit)
Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance across the pins with a multimeter; a reading of 'OL' indicates internal failure
With the sensor disconnected and the key ON, check the harness side for the 5V reference signal. A 12V reading indicates a short to battery power (+V)
Repair steps
Prep the Machine
Park the machine on a level surface, turn off the engine, and remove the key.
Manage Fluid
Depending on the sensor's location, drain the hydraulic fluid level just below the sensor port to prevent a massive fluid spill, or have the new sensor prepped with thread sealant and ready to swap quickly to minimize fluid loss.
Remove the Sensor
Disconnect the electrical harness plug. Use a deep socket or wrench to unthread the faulty sensor from the manifold/tank.
Install the New Sensor
Thread the new sensor into the port and tighten it to the OEM torque specification (do not overtighten).
Reconnect
Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring it clicks and locks securely.
Refill Fluid
Top off the hydraulic oil reservoir to replace any fluid lost during the swap.
Clear Codes
Turn the key to the ON position. The INST controller should recognize the correct resistance/voltage drop. The 13032 code should change from Active to Inactive and can be cleared from the display.
