132

Case IH 132 – TMF (Tractor Multi-Function): Aux 3rd Lower solenoid failed open or short circuit.

Issue description

This indicates an electrical fault in the circuit controlling the lower (retract/down) function of the 3rd auxiliary remote hydraulic valve. The system has detected that the circuit is either incomplete (open circuit, such as a broken wire or unplugged connector) or that the current is bypassing the intended load (short circuit, such as a wire chafing against the tractor chassis).

Applies to these machines

  • Magnum
  • Case IH MX Magnum Series
  • Case IH TG Series

Check the cause

  1. Visual Inspection: Locate the 3rd auxiliary remote valve block at the rear of the tractor. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the 'Lower' solenoid. Look for obvious signs of chafing, pinched wires, or rodent damage.

  2. Connector Check: Disconnect the harness from the 3rd Aux Lower solenoid. Check for loose connections, bent pins, moisture, or corrosion inside the plug.

  3. Coil Resistance Test: Using a multimeter, measure the resistance (Ohms) across the pins of the solenoid coil itself. An infinite reading indicates an internal open circuit (failed coil), while a reading of 0 (or near zero) indicates an internal short.

  4. Harness Continuity Test: Check the continuity of the wiring harness from the solenoid connector back to the TMF controller to rule out a break in the wiring.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

  2. Access the Valve Stack

Clean the area around the rear remote hydraulic valves to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  3. Address Wiring Issues (If Applicable)

If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or damaged connector pin, splice in a new section of wire using weather-sealed heat-shrink connectors, or replace the pigtail connector.

  4. Replace the Solenoid (If Applicable)

If the wiring is intact but the solenoid coil failed the resistance test: Remove the retaining nut holding the solenoid coil to the 3rd auxiliary valve cartridge. Slide the old coil off the valve stem. Slide the new coil onto the stem and secure it with the retaining nut (do not overtighten, as this can distort the cartridge).

  5. Reassemble and Test

Reconnect the electrical plug to the solenoid. Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and actuate the 3rd remote valve to the lower position. Verify that the function operates correctly and that Fault Code 132 clears from the TMF controller.
