Case IH 132 – Transmission Controller (TRANS or TCU): High range clutch is not calibrated
Issue description
The transmission controller lacks the necessary calibration values for the high range clutch to operate smoothly. This can happen if a previous calibration procedure was aborted, if the tractor moved during calibration, if the battery was replaced/disconnected, or if internal transmission components were recently replaced without a follow-up calibration.

Check the cause
Ensure transmission hydraulic fluid is warmed up to between 60°C and 105°C (140°F+). Cold oil will cause the calibration to fail.
Verify the tractor is parked on a flat surface in an open area, as unexpected machine movement (lunging) can occur automatically during calibration.
Ensure the parking brake is fully engaged before starting the procedure.
Check for and resolve any other active electrical fault codes for transmission solenoids or temperature/pressure sensors, as these will prevent a successful calibration.
Repair steps
Warm up fluid
Start the tractor and warm the transmission fluid until it reaches at least 60°C (140°F).
Turn off tractor
Turn the tractor off.
Access CONFIG MENU
Press and hold the Enter (or Program) key on the keypad within ten seconds of moving the key switch back to the ON position. This will bring up the CONFIG MENU on the instrument display.
Select TCU
Use the down arrow key to highlight TCU (Transmission Control Unit) and press Enter.
Access ETC MENU
Scroll down to the ETC MENU and press Enter to access the transmission sub-menus (the TRANS VIEW screen will display).
Select TRANS SETUP
Scroll down to TRANS SETUP and press Enter.
Select Cltch Cal
Select the Cltch Cal (clutch calibration) screen and press Enter.
Verify temperature
The screen will display 'Oil Deg' to report the current hydraulic fluid temperature. If the temperature is within the 60 - 105°C range, press Enter to continue.
Shift to forward
The system will prompt you to shift to forward and will automatically increase the engine RPM (usually to around 1100 RPM) to stabilize the engine.
Allow calibration cycle
The controller will automatically cycle through the clutches (including the High Range clutch). You may feel the tractor jerk or lunge slightly as it learns the engagement points.
Save calibration
Once the display indicates the calibration is complete (often displaying 'END'), turn the key switch OFF to store the new calibration values in the controller's memory.
