Case IH 133 – TRANS (Transmission Controller / TCU): Reverse clutch is not calibrated.

The controller does not have a valid stored value for the reverse clutch's engagement point (fill volume and pressure). This typically occurs if the transmission controller (TCU) was recently replaced, if the controller's memory was wiped/lost, or if a previous transmission calibration procedure was interrupted or failed to complete successfully.

   Check transmission fluid temperature — oil must be between 60°C and 105°C (140°F - 221°F) or calibration will be rejected

   Check for active electrical fault codes for the reverse clutch solenoid (e.g., open circuits or shorts to ground)

   Ensure the tractor is parked on a flat, level surface with the parking brake engaged to prevent unexpected movement during calibration

   Warm up the tractor

   Run the tractor or operate the hydraulics until the transmission fluid reaches the target temperature (ideally around 70°C / 158°F).

   Enter Configuration Menu

   Turn the key switch to the ON position. Within 10 seconds, press and hold the Enter key on the tractor's keypad to bring up the CONFIG MENU.

   Navigate to Transmission Setup

   Use the down arrow key to highlight TCU (Transmission Control Unit) and press Enter. Scroll down to the ETC MENU and press Enter. Scroll down until the TRANS SETUP screen displays and press Enter.

   Initiate Clutch Calibration

   Select Cltch Cal (Clutch Calibration) and press Enter. The screen will display Oil Deg (current oil temperature). If it is within the 60–105°C range, press Enter to proceed.

   Perform the Calibration

   Start the engine when prompted. The system will usually ask you to increase and stabilize the engine RPM (typically around 1100+ RPM). Follow the on-screen prompts to shift into the requested gears/directions. The controller will automatically modulate the reverse clutch to learn the engagement points.

   Save and Exit

   Once the display reads END, CAL, or OK, turn the key switch OFF. You must turn the key off to permanently store the new calibration values in the TCU memory.

   Test

   Restart the tractor. Fault code 133 should now be inactive, and the tractor should engage reverse smoothly.
