Case IH 137 – TRANS: Front Suspension raise lock solenoid circuit shorted or open circuit
Issue description
The system has detected an electrical fault—either a broken wire/disconnected plug (open circuit) or a wire touching ground/another power source (short circuit)—in the circuit that controls the solenoid responsible for locking the front suspension during a raise command.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the front suspension control valve manifold and the electrical connector at the raise lock (WK) solenoid for corrosion, moisture, backed-out pins, or physical damage.
Trace the wiring harness from the Transmission Controller to the solenoid, looking for chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation.
Use a multimeter to test the circuit between the TRANS controller harness and the solenoid connector for continuity and ensure wires are not shorted to ground or 12V power.
Measure the resistance across the pins of the solenoid coil to check for an internal failure (infinite resistance/open or zero resistance/dead short).
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower any implements, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.
Relieve Pressure
If you are replacing the entire cartridge valve rather than just the coil, ensure the front suspension hydraulic pressure is fully relieved according to the service manual.
Access the Solenoid
Locate the front suspension control valve block and identify the raise lock solenoid.
Wiring Repair
If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or damaged connector, splice in a new connector pigtail or repair the damaged wire using weather-sealed heat shrink connectors.
Coil Replacement
If the coil failed the resistance test, disconnect the electrical plug. Remove the retaining nut at the top of the solenoid stem and slide the old coil off. Slide the new coil onto the stem and torque the retaining nut to spec.
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical plug to the solenoid. Reconnect the tractor's battery.
Clear Codes & Calibrate
Turn the key to the ON position. Use the tractor's instrumentation display or service tool to clear the stored TRANS 137 fault code.
Post-Repair Calibration
Because the front suspension system was serviced, you may need to perform a front suspension calibration (failure to do so may trigger related code TRANS 142: 'Front suspension travel range has not been calibrated').
