Case IH 14010 – ICU (Instrument Cluster Unit): PTO controller off line

The tractor's communication network has lost contact with the Power Take-Off (PTO) controller module.

   Check the CAN Bus Wiring: Inspect the yellow and green CAN bus wires that send messages to all controllers online.

   Test CAN Bus Terminators: With the key off, check the ohm reading at the diagnostic connector (across pins C & D). It should read exactly 60 ohms.

   Check for Related Armrest Codes: Look for fault code ARM 1039, PTO 1016, or PTO 1017 which indicate armrest switch or wiring failures.

   Isolate the Controllers: Disconnect the armrest controller and turn the key on to see if other controllers stay online.

   Inspect Connectors: Check connector ends at the PTO controller for damaged, bent, or dislocated pins.

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery

   Do this before servicing the electrical system.

   Access the diagnostic connector and perform the 60-ohm CAN bus terminator test.

   Replace the terminators if the reading is out of specification.

   Inspect the wiring harness between the armrest controller and the PTO controller.

   Repair any open circuits, shorts to ground, or corroded wires on the yellow and green CAN lines.

   Check the connector pins at the PTO controller module.

   Clean any corrosion and carefully straighten any bent pins.

   Replace the PTO Control Module.

   If the wiring, terminators, and armrest switch are all functioning correctly but the controller remains offline, the PTO Control Module itself has likely failed internally and must be replaced.

   Install the replacement PTO Control Module, reconnect the battery, and turn the key on.

   Verify that the controller is back online and the 14010 code is cleared.
