Case IH 14058 – Digital Instrument Cluster and Electrical Systems / Transmission ECU: Seat switch closed over 25 hours

This code triggers when the system detects that the operator presence sensor (seat switch) has remained in the "closed" (occupied) state continuously for more than 25 hours.

   Visually inspect the wiring under and behind the seat for intentional bypasses, such as jumper wires or spliced connections.

   Disconnect the seat switch and perform a resistance test with a multimeter (Unoccupied should read approximately 2.05 kOhms; Occupied should read approximately 555 Ohms).

   Trace the wiring harness from the seat to the back of the cab, checking for pinched wires in the seat suspension mechanism that could cause a short to ground or voltage.

   Prepare tractor

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and engage the parking brake.

   Access switch

   Tilt the seat forward or remove the bottom seat cushion to access the operator presence switch and its wiring harness.

   Disconnect wiring

   Trace the switch wiring to the connector (often routed from the seat base to the back of the cab) and disconnect it.

   Remove faulty switch

   If the switch failed the resistance test or was physically bypassed, unclip or unbolt the faulty switch from the seat base.

   Install new switch

   Install the new seat switch. Ensure the wiring is routed safely away from the air ride compressor (if equipped) and the mechanical scissor suspension to prevent future pinching.

   Reconnect harness

   Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Clear fault code

   Turn the key to the ON position. Sit in the seat and stand up to cycle the switch. The system should recognize the change in state (from 2.05 kOhms to 555 Ohms) and clear the 14058 fault code.
