14095

Case IH 14095 – Instrument Cluster (ICU3): Vane pump – short circuit to ground or open circuit (applicable only to CCM-LWB CVT)

Issue description

An electrical fault indicating that the circuit monitoring the transmission's vane pump has either lost continuity (open circuit) or the wiring has chafed and is touching the chassis (short to ground).

Applies to these machines

  • Case IH Puma 165 CVX/CVT
  • Case IH Puma 180 CVX/CVT
  • Case IH Puma 185 CVX/CVT
  • Case IH Puma 195 CVX/CVT
  • Case IH Puma 210 CVX/CVT
  • Case IH Puma 215 CVX/CVT
  • Case IH Puma 225 CVX/CVT

Check the cause

  1. Enter the tractor's H Menu via the instrument cluster to view the active status of the ICU3 controller and verify if the code is active or stored

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the Vane Pump Switch for chafed wires, melted insulation, or a disconnected plug

  3. Perform a continuity test (open circuit) from the switch connector pins back to the controller with the ignition OFF

  4. Perform a short to ground test by measuring resistance between the signal wire and the tractor chassis

  5. Test the internal contacts of the Vane Pump Switch if the wiring harness passes both tests

Repair steps

  1. Depower the Machine

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes. Ensure all hydraulic pressure is relieved from the circuits.

  2. Locate the Switch

Locate the Vane Pump Switch on the transmission housing (refer to the parts diagram section 1.75.0[07] - VANE PUMP SWITCH).

  3. Remove the Faulty Switch

Disconnect the electrical connector. Place a small catch pan underneath, as a minor amount of hydraulic oil may leak. Unscrew the switch from the hydraulic port.

  4. Install the New Switch

Thread the new switch into the port and tighten it to the OEM torque specification.

  5. Reconnect and Clear Codes

Reconnect the electrical harness. Reconnect the battery, turn the key ON, and use the H Menu (or a diagnostic tool) to clear the stored 14095 fault code.

  6. Test Operation

Start the tractor and allow the hydraulic oil to reach operating temperature. Verify that the instrument cluster does not flash a low charge pressure warning and that the code does not return.
