Case IH 14096 – Instrument Cluster: Vane pump – short circuit to VCC or open circuit
Issue description
The control module is receiving a maximum voltage signal from the vane pump pressure sensor (transducer). This indicates that the sensor's signal wire is shorted directly to the 5-volt reference supply (VCC), or there is an open circuit in the signal/ground wire causing the voltage to pull high.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the vane pump pressure sensor, 3-pin electrical connector, and wiring harness for rubbing, melted insulation, or corrosion.
Disconnect the sensor, turn the key ON (engine OFF), and verify that the 5V reference (VCC) and ground pins have proper voltage and continuity.
Test the signal wire back to the controller to ensure it is not shorted to the 5V reference wire in the harness.
Test the signal wire for an open circuit, as a broken wire will often default to a high VCC reading on pull-up circuits.
If the wiring harness tests perfectly (no shorts to VCC, no open wires, good ground), verify if the internal circuitry of the vane pump pressure sensor has failed.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, apply the parking brake, and ensure all hydraulic pressure is relieved from the circuits before removing any valves or sensors.
Locate the Sensor
Locate the vane pump pressure sensor (often grouped with the clutch A/B sensors and hydrostat solenoids on the transmission housing).
Disconnect
Unplug the 3-pin electrical connector from the sensor.
Remove
Unscrew the faulty pressure transducer from the hydraulic port. Have a rag ready to catch any residual hydraulic fluid.
Install
Thread the new pressure sensor into the port and tighten to OEM specifications.
Reconnect
Plug the 3-pin electrical connector back into the sensor.
Test and Clear
Turn the key on, clear the stored fault codes from the cluster/controller, and start the tractor to verify that the low-pressure hydraulic system operates normally and the code does not return.
