Case IH 14097 – ADIC / ICU: Transmission oil pressure sensor short circuit to battery voltage

The control module is receiving a signal voltage from the sensor that is too high, indicating that the sensor's signal wire is shorted directly to the battery voltage or the 5V reference supply, or the sensor has failed internally.

   Check your transmission fluid level and condition first, as erratic pressure readings can sometimes trigger sensor-related alerts.

   Inspect the transmission oil pressure sensor wiring harness for a short circuit to the 5V supply or battery voltage.

   Check the sensor connector for moisture, contaminants, or damaged pins, as farm transmissions operate in tough conditions with constant temperature swings and vibration.

   Use a multimeter to verify if the short is in the wiring harness between the sensor and the ADIC/ICU or if the sensor itself has failed internally.

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery.

   Locate the transmission oil pressure sensor on the transmission case.

   On some models (like the Maxxum series), this typically requires removing a small access panel to reach the sensor location.

   Disconnect the factory wiring harness from the sensor.

   Unscrew the old transmission oil pressure sensor from the transmission housing.

   Apply a dab of thread sealant to the threads of the new sensor (if not already pre-applied) and thread it right into the transmission case.

   Plug the factory wiring harness back into the new sensor.

   It should plug right in with no modifications needed.

   Reconnect the battery, clear the fault codes from the ADIC/ICU, and test the tractor to ensure the code does not return and the display shows accurate pressure readings.
