141

Case IH 141 – TRANS (Transmission Controller): Front suspension position is below the expected absolute limit.

Issue description

The front axle position sensor (a potentiometer) is sending a voltage signal to the controller that has dropped below the minimum allowable threshold (below 740mV).

Check the cause

  1. Check the signal voltage of the potentiometer position sensor under the front left of the tractor using a voltmeter (look for readings below 740mV).

  2. Inspect the physical linkage connecting the axle to the position sensor for bent brackets or loose connections that could cause the sensor to rotate past its limit.

  3. Verify the rod-side and piston-side pressure sensors on the suspended front axle control valve via the 'Trans FSUS' menu on the A-Post display (look for residual pressure when fully lowered).

Repair steps

  1. Lower the Suspension

Safely lower the front suspension fully to relieve hydraulic pressure and support the front chassis.

  2. Adjust the Sensor

If the position sensor tests fine but is reading too low, adjust the sensor mounting/linkage so that the baseline voltage reads above the 1000mV threshold required for calibration.

  3. Replace the Position Sensor

If the sensor has a dead spot or fails to read correct voltage regardless of adjustment, disconnect the electrical harness, unbolt the linkage, and install a new axle position sensor.

  4. Replace Pressure Sensors (If Applicable)

If the suspension refuses to raise or lower properly during testing, replace the rod and piston pressure sensors on the suspended axle control valve. Both must read 0 psi when the axle is fully lowered.

  5. Recalibrate

Once repairs are made, perform the front suspension calibration process via the tractor's display monitor to relearn the travel range.
