Case IH 14100 – ADIC (Analogue Digital Instrument Cluster): Air brake pressure - not configured

Issue description

A software-to-hardware mismatch on the CAN bus where the system detects a voltage signal from an air brake pressure sensor on a machine not programmed to have pneumatic brakes, or the tractor is equipped with air brakes but the software configuration has been lost, corrupted, or improperly set.

Check the cause

  1. Verify Equipment: Physically inspect the tractor to confirm whether it is actually equipped with a pneumatic (air) trailer brake system.

  2. Check for Related Codes: Look for associated voltage codes, specifically 14061. If 14061 is present alongside 14100, you likely have a wiring short rather than just a configuration error.

  3. Inspect the Harness (If not equipped with air brakes): Locate the unused connector for the air brake pressure sensor and check for water ingress, corrosion, or rubbed wires that might be shorting the sensor signal wire to a 5V or 12V reference.

Repair steps

  1. Connect Diagnostic Tool

    Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) laptop to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  2. Establish Communication

    Turn the ignition key to the ON position to wake up the CAN bus.

  3. Access the Cluster

    Navigate to the ADIC (Analogue Digital Instrument Cluster) module in the EST software.

  4. Check Configuration

    Open the "Configuration" or "Options" menu and locate the setting for "Air Brakes" or "Pneumatic Trailer Brakes".

  5. Correct the Setting

    If the tractor has air brakes, change the status to "Configured" or "Installed" (if already configured, the ADIC may require a re-flash due to an EEPROM error). If the tractor does not have air brakes, ensure the setting is "Not Configured".

  6. Repair Wiring (If applicable)

    If the tractor does not have air brakes, the setting is correct, but the code persists, repair the short circuit in the chassis harness at the unused air brake sensor connector. Clean the connector, tape off any exposed wires, and secure it with a blanking plug.

  7. Clear and Test

    Save the configuration in the EST, clear the inactive fault codes, and cycle the ignition key to verify that code 14100 does not return.
