Case IH 14113 – Transmission Controller (TECU / MTA CCM): Transmission Configuration Error
Issue description
Fault code 14113 indicates a transmission configuration error, typically arising after a transmission software update. The transmission controller locks out the 19th gear until a full transmission calibration is completed to recognize and learn the F4/19th gear clutch parameters.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- MAXXUM T4E
- Magnum
- Maxxum
- Puma
Check the cause
Verify the tractor's recent service history to confirm if a transmission software update was recently performed.
Confirm that the tractor is physically equipped with a 19-speed transmission (as opposed to an 18-speed or CVT).
Check the diagnostic display for any other active transmission fault codes (such as clutch solenoid or speed sensor faults) that could prevent a successful calibration.
Ensure the transmission/hydraulic fluid is warmed up to normal operating temperature, as cold fluid will cause the calibration process to fail or calibrate incorrectly.
Repair steps
Prepare tractor for calibration
Park the tractor on a level surface, apply the parking brake, and ensure the transmission fluid is at normal operating temperature.
Enter diagnostic/calibration mode
Enter the tractor's diagnostic/calibration mode (often referred to as the "H" menu). On many Case IH models, this is accessed by holding the upshift and downshift buttons simultaneously while starting the engine.
Navigate to transmission calibration
Navigate through the display menu to the transmission calibration segment (e.g., H1, H2, etc.).
Initiate calibration
Initiate the transmission calibration. The tractor will remain stationary, but you will be required to hold the upshift button as the controller cycles through each clutch pack.
Allow controller to measure clutches
The controller will engage each clutch (including the F4/19th gear clutch) and measure the electrical current (mA) required to cause a slight drop in engine RPM.
Complete calibration process
Continue holding the button and following the on-screen prompts until all directional and speed clutches are calibrated.
Save data and test drive
Once the calibration is complete, the TECU will recognize the 19th gear. Turn the key off to save the calibration data, then restart the tractor and test drive to verify that 19th gear is accessible and code 14113 is cleared.
Parts you might need
(1)Transmission Electronic Control Unit (TECU) / Transmission Controller
Only required if the transmission controller repeatedly fails to save the calibration data.
