Case IH 14114 – Instrument Cluster (ADIC) / TECU: Steering Controller present but not configured

The main vehicle controller detects that a Steering Controller is physically plugged in and broadcasting on the CAN network, but the tractor's central software configuration file is programmed to indicate that this option is 'Not Installed'.

   Verify if the tractor is actually equipped with an auto-guidance steering system (AccuGuide NavController) or a steering angle sensor.

   Check recent service history to determine if any control modules, the instrument cluster, or the display were recently replaced, updated, or swapped from another tractor (a blank or incorrectly flashed replacement module is the most common cause).

   If the tractor does not have auto-steer, inspect the CAN bus wiring and the steering controller diagnostic connectors for a short circuit that can cause ghost modules to appear on the network.

   Connect diagnostic tool

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) laptop to the tractor's diagnostic port.

   Turn ignition ON

   Turn the ignition key to the ON position (engine off).

   Navigate to configuration menu

   Open the EST software and navigate to the Vehicle Configuration or Cluster Configuration menu.

   Locate steering parameter

   Scroll through the list of installed options until you find the 'Steering Controller' or 'Steering Angle Sensor' parameter.

   Change parameter status

   Change the parameter status from 'Not Configured' / 'Not Installed' to 'Installed' or 'Configured'.

   Save configuration

   Save the configuration changes to the TECU/Cluster.

   Power cycle modules

   Turn the ignition key OFF, wait 30 seconds for the modules to power down completely, and then turn the key back ON.

   Clear codes and verify

   Clear any inactive fault codes and verify that code 14114 does not return. (Note: If the tractor does not actually have a steering controller, you must physically locate the short in the CAN bus or unplug the erroneously installed module, then clear the code).
