14116

Case IH 14116 – Instrument Cluster (INST / ICU / ADIC): Park system present but not configured

Issue description

This fault code indicates a configuration mismatch on the tractor's Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. The main controller detects that the Electronic Park Lock (EPL) controller or Park System module is physically present and communicating on the network, but the instrument cluster's software configuration is currently set to "Not Configured" (meaning the tractor's computer does not expect this feature to be installed).

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • VESTRUM CVX
  • Case IH Maxxum series
  • Case IH Puma series (e.g., 140, 165, 180, 195, 210, 225 CVX)
  • Case IH Optum series
  • Case IH Magnum and Steiger series
  • Case IH Farmall series (e.g., 40, 45, 50, 115U with CVT)

Check the cause

  1. Verify if the tractor is actually equipped with an Electronic Park Lock (EPL) system.

  2. Check recent service history for instrument cluster replacement, software updates, or configuration memory wipes (e.g., due to low battery voltage).

  3. If the tractor is not equipped with an EPL system, check the CAN bus wiring for short circuits or a faulty module broadcasting the wrong identifier.

Repair steps

  1. Enter Diagnostic Mode

Connect the CNH diagnostic test switch (OEM Tool 4FT 950 or equivalent bridged connector) to the tractor's main diagnostic connector (usually located in the cab on the right-hand rear pillar behind the operator's seat).

  2. Access the H-Menu

Turn the key switch to the "ON" position. The instrument cluster will display "HH" or enter the H-Menu diagnostic mode.

  3. Navigate to Configurations

Using the up/down arrows and menu/escape keys on the instrument cluster (or AFS monitor), navigate to the H3 Menu (Configurations and options).

  4. Configure the Park System

Scroll through the controller identifier codes until you find the Electronic Park Lock (EPL) / Park System setting.

  5. Change the Value

Change the setting from "Not Configured" (or NO) to "Configured" (or YES).

  6. Save and Reboot

Save the settings, exit the H-Menu, and cycle the tractor's key switch (turn off, wait 10 seconds, turn back on).

  7. Clear Codes

If the code moved from Active to Stored, use the HC Menu (Clear error codes) to erase the stored fault stack without erasing your new calibration values.
