14120

Case IH 14120 – Instrument Cluster (ADIC - Advanced Display Instrument Cluster): RADAR present but not configured

Issue description

The vehicle's network has detected a radar sensor (true ground speed sensor) connected to the system (either via the CAN bus or direct frequency input), but the tractor's software configuration does not currently have the radar option enabled or recognized in its settings.

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • Case IH Maxxum
  • Case IH Puma
  • Case IH Magnum
  • Case IH Steiger

Check the cause

  1. Verify whether the tractor is actually equipped with a physical radar sensor (usually mounted under the cab or chassis pointing toward the ground).

  2. If the tractor is not supposed to have a radar sensor, inspect the radar harness connector for moisture, corrosion, or a short circuit to power/ground that might be tricking the module into detecting a 'present' signal.

  3. Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or enter the onboard diagnostic 'H-Menu' to view the current controller configuration and verify the radar's status.

Repair steps

  1. Connect Diagnostic Tool

Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) laptop to the tractor's diagnostic port, or access the onboard 'H-Menu' using the diagnostic test switch (Tool 295041).

  2. Access Configuration

Navigate to the Instrument Cluster or Vehicle Configuration menu.

  3. Update Radar Status

If the radar sensor is physically installed on the machine, change the configuration setting for the Radar/Ground Speed Sensor from 'Not Configured/Disabled' to 'Installed/Enabled'. If the radar sensor is not installed, locate the wiring fault or dummy plug that is causing the false detection, repair the harness, and ensure the software remains set to 'Disabled'.

  4. Save and Reset

Save the configuration changes. You may need to perform a 'RESET NVM' (Non-Volatile Memory) depending on the specific display/cluster.

  5. Cycle Power

Turn the key switch OFF, wait for the modules to power down, and turn the key back ON.

  6. Clear Codes

Clear the fault codes from the processor memory via the EST or H-Menu.

  7. Test

Test drive the tractor to ensure the ground speed registers correctly on the display and the 14120 code does not return.
