Case IH 14121 - ICU – Instrument Cluster (ICU / ADIC): TECU present but not configured

This is a software configuration mismatch on the tractor's Controller Area Network (CAN bus). The system detects that a TECU is physically plugged into the network and communicating, but the main instrument cluster's software configuration is not programmed to recognize or expect it.

   Verify if the tractor is physically equipped with a TECU module (often added for ISOBUS Virtual Terminal compatibility)

   Check recent service history to determine if the Instrument Cluster or TECU was recently replaced, added, or if a severe battery voltage drop corrupted the cluster's volatile memory

   Ensure there are no short circuits to VCC/GND or open circuits on the CAN 1 Main Bus (Pins C and D on the diagnostic connector) causing erratic module reporting

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the tractor's 9-pin diagnostic connector.

   Turn the ignition key to the ON position to wake up the CAN bus.

   Open the EST software and access the Instrument Cluster (ICU) configuration or the 'System Display settings'.

   Navigate to the vehicle configuration/options list (often found under the 'Toolbox' or 'Vehicle Setup' menus).

   Locate the parameter for the TECU (or ISOBUS TECU).

   Change the configuration status from 'Not Configured' / 'Not Present' to 'Present' or 'Configured' to match the physical hardware installed on the machine.

   Save the configuration to the cluster.

   Cycle the key power (turn off, wait 30 seconds, turn back on) to allow the modules to reboot and handshake.

   Clear the fault code stack and verify that code 14121 does not return.
