Case IH 14128 – Universal Control Module (UCM) or Instrument Cluster Unit (AIC): SFB present but not configured

The Smart Fuse Box (SFB) is physically plugged in and broadcasting on the CAN bus network, but the vehicle's main configuration file does not recognize it as an installed option. The main controller sees the module's heartbeat but rejects it because it hasn't been told the machine is equipped with it.

   Verify Physical Equipment: Physically inspect the rear electrical component panel to confirm if the machine is actually equipped with a Smart Fuse Box.

   Check Recent Service History: Determine if the UCM, AIC, or the SFB itself was recently replaced or if the machine recently underwent a software flash. A wiped or outdated configuration file is the most common culprit.

   CAN Bus Inspection: If the machine is not supposed to have an SFB, check the CAN bus wiring for shorts or verify that a technician didn't accidentally plug a termination resistor or incorrect module into the SFB harness connector.

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

   Turn the ignition key to the ON position (engine off).

   Open the EST software and navigate to the Vehicle Configuration or Controller Setup menu.

   Download/read the current Vehicle Configuration File (VCF).

   Locate the Smart Fuse Box (SFB) in the list of machine options/modules.

   If the machine is equipped with an SFB, change its configuration status from "Not Installed/Not Configured" to "Installed" or "Configured".

   Save the configuration and write it to the vehicle.

   Perform a complete key cycle (turn the ignition off, wait for the controllers to power down completely, then turn it back on).

   Use the EST to clear the 14128 fault code.

    Rescan the system to verify the code does not return and that the Smart Fuse Box is communicating properly.
