Case IH 142 – TRANS: Front suspension travel range has not been calibrated.

The tractor's control system has lost (or has never learned) the physical upper and lower limits of the suspended front axle's travel range. Without these parameters, the active front suspension system is disabled or limited to prevent mechanical damage.

   Check for accompanying TRANS fault codes (such as 141, 145, or 150) that indicate sensor failures

   Physically inspect the front suspension position sensor and its linkage for seizing or breakage due to mud and field debris

   Verify sensor voltage by back-probing the position sensor connector (must be under 5V, but above 740mV to avoid triggering code 141)

   Check front suspension hydraulic accumulator pressures to ensure they are not overcharged (e.g., 856-899 PSI for certain Magnums), which will cause calibration to fail

   Repair or replace faulty hardware

   If the position sensor linkage is seized, broken, or reading out of range during the multimeter test, replace the front axle position sensor.

   Adjust sensor position

   If the sensor is intact but out of range, manually adjust the suspension potentiometer position or bracket until the voltage falls within the expected parameters (between 740mV and 5V).

   Initiate calibration cycle

   Access the tractor's calibration menu through the Armrest display H-Menu or the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST). Select the front suspension calibration procedure.

   Run the calibration cycle

   Ensure the tractor is running on level ground and the front axle is free to move. The system will automatically raise and lower the front axle to its physical limits to learn the travel range.

   Verify and clear codes

   Once the calibration cycle completes successfully, fault code 142 should change to inactive. Clear the fault codes and test drive the tractor to ensure the suspended front axle switch and ride control function correctly.
