Case IH 14300 – Electronic Park Lock (EPL) controller: Electronic Park Lock (EPL) – mismatch between CAN and direct frequency input value
Issue description
There is a discrepancy between the park lock status data being broadcast over the CAN bus network and the direct frequency signal being read by the controller.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- MAXXUM T4E
- Puma Series
- Magnum Series
- Maxxum Series
- Optum Series
- Steiger Series
- Farmall CVT
Check the cause
View calibration values and channel statuses in the diagnostic H-menus (XA module, menu H2 or H3)
Check for accompanying fault codes indicating a hard electrical failure (e.g., code 14301 for short/open circuits)
Connect special tool 380000843 and use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to monitor the direct frequency input for dropouts or erratic fluctuations
Inspect the wiring harness between the EPL sensor/actuator and the EPL controller for chafing, corrosion, or loose pins
Repair steps
Secure the Tractor
Ensure the tractor is on level ground. If required during the calibration procedure, firmly apply the service brakes to prevent the tractor from moving.
Prepare for Calibration
Ensure the electronic park lock is released and the shuttle lever is placed in the park position.
Perform EPL Calibration
Using the instrument cluster H-menus or the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST), initiate the Electronic Park Lock calibration procedure to resync the direct frequency input with the CAN bus values.
Component Replacement
If the calibration fails or the mismatch immediately returns, the fault lies in a failing EPL sensor or the EPL controller itself. Replace the faulty component.
Clear Codes
Once the repair or calibration is complete, clear the fault codes from the Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM).
