Case IH 14301 - ICU – XA Module / ICU: Electronic Park Lock (EPL) – direct frequency input is shorted to VCC (power), shorted to ground (GND), or has an open circuit

The control system is unable to read the frequency signal from the park lock mechanism, preventing the tractor from validating the park system's status.

   Enter Diagnostic Mode: Navigate the 'H' menus using the switches on the instrument cluster.

   Access the XA Module: Navigate to the XA module and press the dimming key to accept the menu selection.

   Check Calibration Values: Go to menu H2 to view the stored Electronic Park Lock calibration values.

   Run Voltmeter Diagnostics: Go to menu H9 to run a voltmeter diagnostic on the EPL controller to check the live voltage of the frequency input.

   Verify Active Codes: Go to menu HB to display stored fault codes and confirm 14301 is actively registering.

   Secure the Machine

   Ensure the shuttle lever is in the park position. Use the service brakes to prevent the tractor from moving during testing.

   Inspect the Harness

   Locate the Electronic Park Brake (EPL) Controller and inspect the wiring harness (referenced in electrical schematic frame 06 / 55.100).

   Test the Circuit

   Disconnect the harness at the EPL Controller (Connector X745) and the EPL Relay (Connector X036-B). Use a multimeter to test the direct frequency input wire for continuity (to find an open circuit) and check for continuity to ground or a 12V/5V power source (to find a short to GND or VCC).

   Repair Wiring

   Repair any chafed wires, broken connections, or corroded pins in the harness or connectors.

   Replace Controller (if necessary)

   If the wiring harness and relay test perfectly fine, the internal circuitry of the EPL controller has likely failed and the module must be replaced.

   Clear Memory

   Once the repair is made, navigate to the XA module, menu H8, to clear the stored calibration information (EEPROM).

   Recalibrate

   Perform the Electronic Park Lock calibration procedure to finalize the repair.
