Case IH 147 – TMF (Tractor Multi-Function) Controller or AUX (Auxiliary Remote) Controller: Implement feedback #1 out of range High
Issue description
The feedback potentiometer (sensor) for Implement #1 (or Auxiliary Remote #1) is sending a voltage signal to the controller that is higher than the acceptable programmed range. This typically indicates that the sensor circuit is shorted to a power source (12V or 5V), has an open ground connection, or the potentiometer itself has failed internally.

Check the cause
Locate the Implement #1 feedback potentiometer and inspect the wiring harness (specifically connectors like C150F or C150M, depending on the model) for dirt, moisture, or physical damage.
Use a multimeter to check the sensor harness. Test for a short to a 12V or 5V power source, and verify that the ground circuit is not open.
Turn the key switch to OFF, then start the tractor. Operate the tractor with the #1 remote in 'Auto' mode. If the fault code is recorded again immediately, the fault is active and hard-set.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn the tractor off and disconnect the battery ground if you will be probing sensitive ECU pins.
Test the Potentiometer
Disconnect the Implement #1 feedback potentiometer. Test the resistance sweep of the sensor with a multimeter. If the resistance jumps erratically or shows an open circuit at certain points, the sensor is defective.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If the diagnostic checks revealed a short to power or an open ground in the harness between the sensor and the TMF/AUX controller, repair the damaged wire or replace the harness section.
Replace the Sensor
If the wiring tests good, remove the mounting hardware for the Implement #1 feedback potentiometer and install the replacement sensor.
Recalibrate
After installing a new potentiometer, the remote valve/implement feedback system must be recalibrated using the tractor's display monitor or a dealer diagnostic tool so the controller learns the new minimum and maximum voltage sweeps.
Final Verification
Clear the fault code, start the tractor, and actuate the #1 remote valve. Verify that the code does not return. (Note: OEM manuals state that if the code persists after replacing the sensor and verifying the wiring, the remote hydraulic controller itself may need replacement).
