Case IH 147 – TRANS (Transmission Controller): Regulated system pressure below 290 PSI

The transmission regulated hydraulic circuit dropping below the minimum safe operating threshold. The regulated circuit supplies pressure to the transmission clutches, remote valves, and hitch valves.

   Check for fault codes 50 and 52 to ensure the park brake is fully released

   Verify clutch slippage by clearing fault code 147 and engaging different gears to see if the code reappears and if tractor speed is normal

   Verify the transmission/hydraulic oil level is correct

   Perform a Regulated System Pressure Test by connecting a flowmeter/pressure gauge to the outlet of the front section of the tandem gear pump to verify actual system pressure

   Block the front grill of the tractor with a large piece of paper to help the tractor build heat.

   Press the INCR or DECR key on the instrumentation panel until the TRANS OIL TEMP screen is reached.

   Operate the engine at 1500 RPM until the transmission temperature displayed on the instrumentation reads at least 49 °C (120 °F).

   Locate the priority/regulator valve adjustment screw. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjustment screw in or out until the correct pressure (325 - 355 psi at 1500 RPM) displays on the tractor instrumentation or your manual gauge.

   Tighten the lock nut to a torque of 41 - 54 Nm (30 - 40 lb ft).

   After tightening the lock nut, check the regulated pressure again to ensure it hasn't shifted.

   If the correct pressure cannot be obtained, remove and inspect the priority/regulator valve for broken springs or a sticking spool.

   If the correct pressure cannot be obtained, perform a flow test on the tandem gear pump to check for low pump flow performance.

   A failing pump will not be able to maintain 290+ PSI.
