Case IH 14908 - ICU – Instrument Cluster (ICU/ECU) or ADIC: TECU absent (OA) / ISOBUS function not detected / TECU missing

The tractor's instrument cluster has lost communication with the Tractor Electronic Control Unit (TECU) over the CAN BUS network, or the TECU is failing to broadcast its presence.

   Verify if a PRO 700 display was recently removed or swapped, as the system may still be looking for its ISOBUS controller

   Inspect ground connections by checking the alternator output voltage and performing a voltage drop test from the engine block to the frame, specifically checking the ground strap at the right rear of the engine

   Inspect ISOBUS network cables and plugs near the rear hood and at the TECU module for clean, undamaged, and fully seated pins

   Connect a diagnostic tool to attempt to re-detect the TECU module and check for available software updates

   Temporary Reset

   Turn the key to the ON position and unplug the TECU module (usually located under the back cover/cab panel). Plug it back in to temporarily clear the code and force a module reboot.

   Clean Ground Straps

   If a voltage drop is found (e.g., >1.0V drop from engine to frame), remove the main ground strap, wire-brush the contact points on the frame and engine block to bare metal, and reinstall securely.

   Repair Wiring

   If the ISOBUS harness shows chafing or connector pin corrosion, replace the damaged connector pins or the affected harness section.

   Update Software

   Have a dealer flash the latest firmware to the ICU and TECU to ensure handshake protocols are up to date.

   Replace the TECU

   If wiring, grounds, and software are all verified good but the TECU remains unresponsive or absent on the CAN network, the TECU module itself has failed internally and must be replaced.
