Case IH 14908 – TECU: ISOBUS function not detected / TECU missing (OA)

Communication failure on the tractor's CAN bus network. The tractor's Instrument Cluster (ICU/ECU) has lost communication with or cannot detect the TECU module.

   Inspect ISOBUS network cables and plugs near the rear hood and at the TECU module to ensure all pins are clean, undamaged, and fully seated.

   Check ground connections by testing the alternator output voltage, then test for a voltage drop between the engine block and the frame (specifically checking the ground strap at the right rear of the engine). A drop of 1.6V or more indicates a severely degraded ground.

   Connect a PRO 700 or dealer diagnostic tool to see if communication can be re-established and to check for outdated software versions.

   Temporary Reset

   Unplug the TECU module (located under the back cover) while the key is ON to temporarily clear the code and restore function, though the code will likely return if the root cause isn't fixed.

   Resolve Grounding Issues

   If a voltage drop was found during diagnostics, remove the engine-to-frame ground strap, clean the mounting surfaces down to bare metal, and reinstall (or replace the strap if heavily corroded).

   Repair Wiring

   Repair or replace any damaged ISOBUS harness connectors or pins found during the visual inspection.

   Software Update

   If wiring and grounds are perfect, have a Case IH dealer flash the latest firmware/software update to the instrument cluster and TECU to resolve known communication glitches.

   Module Replacement

   If dealer-level diagnostic tools confirm the TECU is internally shorted or completely unresponsive, the TECU module must be replaced and programmed to the tractor.
