Case IH 14911 – ADIC (Analog/Digital Instrument Cluster) or Transmission Control Unit (TECU / XCM) / Armrest Controller: Enhanced cluster without keypad (ADIC only)

CAN bus communication or configuration error. It indicates that the system expects to communicate with the 'Enhanced' version of the Analog/Digital Instrument Cluster (ADIC) without a keypad, but the module is either missing, disconnected, or experiencing a total loss of communication on the CAN network. It can also trigger if the tractor's software is incorrectly configured for an enhanced cluster when a basic cluster is installed.

   Check the cab fuse box for blown fuses supplying power to the ADIC (commonly F8 - 5A Instrument panel).

   Inspect the CAN bus communication lines between the ADIC and the Transmission Control Unit for breaks, chafing, or loose grounds.

   Remove the cluster and inspect the 3 main harness plugs at the rear of the ADIC for pushed-out pins, moisture, or corrosion.

   Verify the hardware ID and ensure the tractor's software configuration matches the physical hardware installed using the diagnostic connector (special tool 380000843) to enter the 'H' menu.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn the key switch to the OFF position and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the ADIC

   Remove the steering column/dashboard trim panels to expose the mounting screws for the instrument cluster.

   Inspect and Clean

   Disconnect the three electrical connectors at the back of the ADIC. Spray the connectors with electrical contact cleaner and ensure no pins are bent. Reconnect them firmly, ensuring the locking tabs click into place.

   Test Communication

   Reconnect the battery and turn the key ON. If the code moves from 'Active' to 'Stored/Inactive,' the issue was a poor connection.

   Reconfigure (If necessary)

   If the cluster was recently replaced or the tractor lost its memory, access the 'H' menu via the diagnostic port. Navigate to the configuration settings and ensure the system is programmed for the 'Enhanced cluster without keypad.'

   Replace the ADIC

   If wiring tests good (proper voltage, ground, and CAN high/low resistance) and the configuration is correct, the ADIC has suffered an internal failure and must be replaced.

   Post-Repair Calibration

   After installing a new ADIC, you must use the dealer service tool to program the correct tractor configuration, sync the engine hours, and clear the stored 14911 fault code.
