14912

Case IH 14912 – ADIC (Advanced Data Instrument Cluster): Basic cluster with keypad

Issue description

Indicates that the system is programmed for, or is currently detecting, a basic-level Advanced Data Instrument Cluster (ADIC) equipped with a keypad. It is primarily a configuration or hardware-identification code.

Applies to these machines

  • Puma/Mid Range Magnum
  • MAXXUM T4E
  • Puma
  • Steiger
  • Magnum
  • MX/TG series
  • T7 series
  • T6000 series

Check the cause

  1. Physically inspect the tractor's instrument cluster to verify if it is a 'Basic' (HY module) or 'Enhanced' (HX module) cluster, and whether the keypad is present.

  2. Connect the OEM special diagnostic tool/switch (Part No. 380000843) to the diagnostic socket and turn the key switch to ON.

  3. Use the 'dimming' button on the instrument cluster to navigate to the H4 menu to check the software revision level and confirm if the system recognizes an HX or HY module.

  4. Ensure there are no accompanying CAN bus errors (such as code 2090) indicating a break in CAN communication between the ADIC and the transmission control unit.

Repair steps

  1. Resolve Mismatches

If the instrument cluster was recently replaced, ensure the correct replacement part was used (Basic vs. Enhanced). If an Enhanced cluster was installed but the system is programmed for a Basic cluster, the controller configuration must be updated using the dealer electronic service tool to match the installed hardware.

  2. Clear Stored Codes

If the hardware is correct and the code is a stored historical fault, use the diagnostic switch to navigate the HH menus.

  3. Access the HC Menu

Select the HC menu to erase all stored error codes from the EEPROM without erasing the tractor's calibration information. (Note: Do not use the H8 menu unless you intend to wipe all calibration values back to default).

  4. Module Replacement

If the ADIC is completely unresponsive, the keypad has failed, or it will not accept configuration programming, the instrument cluster itself must be replaced.

  5. Final Verification

Cycle the key power and verify that code 14912 (and any related 14920 configuration errors) do not return.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Basic Advanced Data Instrument Cluster (ADIC) with Keypad

Specific OEM part numbers vary heavily by exact tractor serial number and cab configuration; no universal part number is provided in the service literature for this code.

  • Diagnostic Connector / Service Switch

    380000843

Required to access the H-menus for diagnosis and code clearing.
