Case IH 14922 - ICU – Advanced Steering Controller (ASC): Wrong Steering Sensor Configuration

This condition occurs when the steering controller detects that the software configuration for the steering angle sensor does not match the physical hardware installed on the machine, or the calibration data has been corrupted/lost (often after a software flash or module replacement).

   Access the H Menus: Enter the diagnostic mode by navigating the 'H menus' using the switches on the instrument cluster.

   View Calibration Values: Navigate to the R1 module, menu H2, and press the dimming key to accept. Use the 'h' and 'm' keys to scroll through the channels to view the stored Advanced Steering Calibration values.

   Verify Hardware: Physically inspect the steering angle sensor on the steering axle to ensure it hasn't been swapped with an incorrect part number by a previous technician.

   Check CAN Communication: Ensure there are no accompanying CAN bus errors, which might prevent the controller from reading the sensor's ID.

   Connect EST

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the tractor's diagnostic port.

   Access ASC module

   Access the Advanced Steering Controller (ASC) module.

   Verify configuration

   Navigate to the configuration/setup menu. Verify the selected steering sensor type and ensure it matches the tractor's specific axle and steering valve configuration.

   Update settings

   If the configuration is incorrect, update the settings to the correct parameters.

   Perform calibration

   Perform a full Steering Angle Sensor Calibration. This can be initiated via the EST or through the instrument cluster's H menus (as checked in the diagnostic steps).

   Cycle key power

   Cycle the key power (turn off for 30 seconds, then back on).

   Clear codes and test drive

   Clear the fault codes and perform a test drive, turning the steering wheel lock-to-lock to ensure the Advanced Steering system engages and the code does not return.
