Case IH 14922 – CCM (Chassis Control Module): Wrong Steering Sensor Configuration

A software/configuration mismatch indicating that the control module has detected that the programmed configuration for the steering angle sensor does not match the physical hardware installed on the machine, or the sensor has not been properly configured/calibrated.

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and look for companion codes, such as 14106 (Steering Angle Sensor Track 1/2 - present but not configured).

   Determine if the steering angle sensor, steering cylinder, or the CCM was recently replaced. Installing a new module without flashing the correct machine configuration will trigger this code.

   Inspect the physical steering angle sensor mounted on the front axle/steering cylinder to ensure it is the correct OEM part for the specific tractor's steering package (e.g., standard steering vs. Auto-Guidance/AccuGuide).

   Use the EST to read the current CCM configuration and verify that the selected steering sensor type matches the physical hardware.

   Connect Diagnostic Tool

   Plug the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) laptop into the tractor's diagnostic port.

   Access the CCM

   Navigate to the Chassis Control Module (CCM) or Advanced Steering controller menu.

   Update Configuration

   Go to the configuration/setup tab. Correct the steering sensor configuration settings to match the exact hardware installed on the tractor.

   Perform Calibration

   Perform a full Steering Angle Sensor Calibration procedure. This usually involves driving the tractor slowly and turning the steering wheel fully lock-to-lock (full left to full right) as prompted by the EST software.

   Clear Codes

   Clear the 14922 fault code from the on-board fault stack.

   Test Operation

   Cycle the key power, start the tractor, and test the steering system to ensure the code does not return and the Auto-Guidance (if equipped) engages properly.
