Case IH 15 – Electronic Hitch Controller: Load Sensing Pin Short Circuit To +12 Volts, Failed Or Corroded Load Sensing Pin
Issue description
The system detects a short to power (+12V) on the sensor's signal circuit, or the load sensing pin (draft pin) itself has internally failed or become severely corroded.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and the connectors at the load sensing pins for moisture, corrosion, or physical damage.
Disconnect the harness from the draft pin and check the signal wire on the tractor's harness side for a short circuit to +12 Volts using a multimeter.
Test the wiring harness for continuity between the draft pin connector and the hitch controller to ensure there are no broken wires.
Test the internal resistance of the draft pin sensor itself across its terminal pins (e.g., Pin A to Pin C, Pin B to Pin C) to verify if the sensor has internally failed.
Repair steps
Locate connectors
Option A (Elimination Kit): Locate the wiring connectors for both the left and right draft load sensing pins at the rear of the tractor.
Unplug harness
Unplug the factory wiring harness from both defective draft pins.
Install elimination modules
Plug the two electronic load sensing elimination modules directly into the tractor's wiring harness.
Secure wiring
Secure the modules and wiring out of the way using tie wraps.
Support hitch
Option B (OEM Replacement): Lower the 3-point hitch and securely support the lower draft links to remove tension from the pins.
Disconnect connector
Disconnect the electrical connector from the failed draft pin.
Remove hardware
Remove the retaining hardware/bolt holding the draft pin in place.
Remove draft pin
Drive out the corroded draft pin (this may require penetrating oil and force if heavily corroded).
Install new pin
Clean the bore, install the new OEM draft sensor pin, and reinstall the retaining hardware.
Reconnect and clear codes
Reconnect the electrical harness and clear the fault codes.
