Case IH 15007 – Steering Controller: Split valve LVDT - short circuit
Issue description
The controller detects a short circuit in the Split Valve LVDT sensor's electrical circuit, meaning the voltage signal is out of the expected range (likely shorted to ground or to another voltage source).

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness running from the Steering Controller to the Split Valve LVDT for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinched lines
Disconnect the LVDT sensor and check the electrical connectors for water ingress, corrosion, or bent pins
Test the LVDT sensor with a multimeter to determine if the short circuit is internal to the sensor itself
Check for related steering codes (such as 15012 or 15014) that might indicate a mechanical bind
Repair steps
Power down and disconnect battery
Power down the tractor and disconnect the battery to protect the Steering Controller.
Repair or replace wiring
If the diagnostic checks reveal damaged wiring, repair or replace the affected section of the steering harness.
Replace Split Valve LVDT
If the wiring is intact but the sensor is internally shorted, remove the defective Split Valve LVDT from the steering hydraulic valve block and install a new sensor.
Reconnect battery and clear codes
Reconnect the battery and clear the fault codes.
Recalibrate steering system
After replacing steering components or sensors, recalibrate the steering system to prevent fault code 15024 (System not calibrated).
