15011

Case IH 15011 – Fast Steer Controller (KA Module): Maximum engagement time elapsed (5 minutes)

Issue description

A safety timeout indicating the tractor's Fast Steer (or automated steering) system was activated and left engaged for more than 5 minutes without any steering input or transition. It is primarily flagged as an operator error or a system timeout rather than a hard component failure.

Applies to these machines

  • Puma/Mid Range Magnum
  • Puma series (165, 180, 195, 210, 225 CVX)
  • Magnum series
  • Steiger series

Check the cause

  1. Confirm with the operator if the Fast Steer system was left engaged while the tractor was idling or driving without steering input for more than 5 minutes

  2. Verify if the Fast Steer lamp is flashing on the dash, which is the standard system behavior when this timeout code is triggered

  3. If the operator was actively steering but the code still triggered (false timeout), check the steering wheel control proximity sensor and the split valve LVDT sensor for proper signal transitions

Repair steps

  1. Disengage the System

Turn off the Fast Steer system via the cab switch.

  2. Clear the Code

Delete the active error code from the Fast Steer Controller (KA) memory using the tractor's diagnostic menu or an electronic service tool (EST).

  3. Cycle Power

Turn the tractor key off, wait for the modules to power down, and turn the key back on.

  4. Operational Test

Re-engage the Fast Steer system and operate the steering wheel normally. Verify that the system engages, assists steering, and disengages properly without immediately throwing the code again.

  5. Recalibration

If the system behaves erratically after clearing the code, perform a Fast Steer proximity sensor and LVDT calibration via the tractor's 'H' diagnostic menu.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Steering Wheel Control Proximity Sensor

OEM Part Number varies by specific tractor model/cab configuration. May be required if diagnostic testing reveals a false timeout.

  • Fast Steer Activation Switch

May be required if diagnostic testing reveals a false timeout.

  • Split Valve / Change Valve Solenoid

May be required if diagnostic testing reveals a false timeout.
