Case IH 15202 - AST – AST (Advanced Steering / Auto Steering) / Steering Valve Controller (SVC): Steering valve controller failure - Software flash test failure

This code indicates an internal failure within the controller's memory. Specifically, the module failed its internal self-test of the flash memory where the operating software is stored. This means the software is either corrupted, or the physical flash memory chip inside the controller has suffered a hardware failure.

   Verify that the Steering Valve Controller is receiving clean, uninterrupted power and ground to rule out voltage drops or spikes causing memory read errors.

   Ensure the CAN bus communication lines to the AST subsystem are intact and not shorting, which can interrupt module initialization.

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check the current software version on the Steering Valve Controller (SVC).

   Attempt a Software Re-flash

   Using the CNH EST diagnostic laptop, attempt to re-flash the Steering Valve Controller with the latest OEM software payload.

   Verify Code Status

   Cycle the key and re-test the AST subsystem. If the flash is successful and the code clears, the issue was a software corruption anomaly.

   Replace the Controller

   If the EST tool cannot communicate with the module, the flash procedure fails, or fault code 15202 immediately returns after a successful flash, the internal flash memory chip is permanently damaged. The Steering Valve Controller hardware must be replaced.

   Program and Calibrate

   Install the new Steering Valve Controller. Use the EST to flash the correct software version and upload the Advanced Steering Configuration dataset. Perform the steering valve calibration procedure before returning the tractor to service.
