Case IH 15203 - AST – AST (Advanced Steering Technology) / Steering Valve Controller (SVC): Steering valve controller failure - Software RAM code test failed
Issue description
The internal Random Access Memory (RAM) within the steering controller has failed its self-diagnostic software test, pointing to either a software corruption issue or a physical failure of the memory chips inside the controller.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- MAXXUM T4E
- VESTRUM CVX
- AFS Connect Magnum Tractors (Models 180, 200, 220, 240, 250, 280, 310, 340, 380)
- Vestrum CVX Series Tractors (Models 100, 110, 120, 130)
- Farmall Tractors (Models 40, 45, 50)
Check the cause
Enter the diagnostic mode by navigating the 'H' menus using the switches on the instrument cluster
Navigate to the R1 module, menu H3
Select the AST system and press the dimming key to accept the menu selection
Verify the lower LCD section of the display shows 'ch - - ' to indicate you are in the correct subsystem to read active AST faults
Repair steps
Software Reflash
Attempt to re-flash the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) with the latest OEM software version (e.g., Version 2.02) using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST).
Module Replacement
If the software update fails or the RAM code test continues to fail immediately after a reflash, the internal memory hardware is permanently damaged. The Steering Valve Controller unit itself must be replaced and subsequently programmed with the correct dataset for the specific tractor model.
