Case IH 15210 – Steering Valve Controller (SVC) or Steering Redundant Controller (SRC): Steering valve controller failure - Software variable truncation
Issue description
Internal software processing error where a calculated data value exceeded the allocated memory space or data type limit, causing the software to truncate the value. This compromises automated or electronic steering calculations, resulting in the system disabling the electronic steering functions as a failsafe.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- Steiger T4B
- AFS Connect Magnum Series 180, 200, 220, 240, 250, 280, 310, 340, 380 (Tier 4B and Stage V)
- Optum Series 250, 270, 300
- Puma Series 150, 165, 180, 185, 200, 220, 240
- Maxxum Series CVT and 16/17x16 Transmission models
- Vestrum CVX / ActiveDrive8 Series 100, 110, 120, 130
- Farmall Series 40, 45, 50, and 115U Efficient Power Tractors
Check the cause
Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.
Check the current software versions on both the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) and the Steering Redundant Controller (SRC).
Verify if there are any other active fault codes related to voltage supply or CAN communication, as voltage drops can sometimes cause software initialization or calculation errors.
Check the CNH dealer portal for available software updates or dataset configurations for the specific tractor's PIN/Serial Number.
Repair steps
Establish Communication
Using the EST, connect to the tractor's diagnostic network and select the Steering Valve Controller.
Reflash Software
Flash the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) and Steering Redundant Controller (SRC) with the latest software version (e.g., updating to software version 2.02 or newer).
Update Dataset
Push the latest Advanced Steering Configuration controller dataset to the module.
Calibrate
Perform the steering valve calibration procedure as outlined in the EST to ensure the main and safety controllers are synchronized and that the new software initializes correctly.
Test
Clear the fault codes and cycle the key. Test the electronic steering system to ensure code 15210 does not return.
Hardware Replacement (If Necessary)
If the controller will not accept the software update, or if the code immediately returns after a successful flash, the physical memory inside the controller is likely corrupted. The Steering Valve Controller unit must be replaced, and the new unit must be flashed and calibrated.
Parts you might need
(3)SVC / SRC Software
51631896Version 2.02 (for EST flashing)
Advanced Steering Configuration Dataset
51573865Version 3.2 (for EST flashing)
