Case IH 15212 - AST – Steering Valve Controller (SVC) / AST: Steering valve controller failure - Software initialization failure

This indicates that the software within the steering valve controller failed to initialize properly upon startup or during operation.

   Verify the active fault codes in the AST subsystem using the tractor's onboard diagnostic display.

   Enter the diagnostic mode by navigating the 'H' menus using the switches on the instrument cluster.

   Navigate to the R1 module, select menu H3, and select the AST system.

   Press the dimming key to accept the menu selection.

   Verify that 15212 is actively logging when the lower LCD section shows 'ch - -'.

   Power Cycle

   Cycle the tractor's key power to see if the software initialization failure is a temporary glitch that clears on a hard reboot.

   Harness Check

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors going to the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) for any loose pins, corrosion, or damage that could interrupt the controller's boot sequence.

   Software Reflash/Update

   Have an authorized Case IH dealer reflash or update the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) software.

   Module Replacement

   If the controller will not accept a software flash or continues to fail initialization, the physical Steering Valve Controller must be replaced and programmed with the correct dataset.
