Case IH 15223 – Steering Valve Controller (SVC): Steering valve controller temperature too high

Issue description

Triggered when the internal temperature of the steering valve controller exceeds 120°C (248°F).

Applies to these machines

  • Steiger T4B
  • Case IH AFS Connect Magnum Tractors (Models 180, 200, 220, 240, 250, 280, 310, 340, 380)

  • Case IH Farmall 40, 45, 50, and 115U Efficient Power Tractors

Check the cause

  1. Verify the ambient temperature around the steering valve

  2. Check for excessive hydraulic fluid temperatures (especially if the controller is mounted directly to the hydraulic steering valve)

  3. Inspect the steering valve controller for internal electrical shorts

Repair steps

  1. Replace the Steering Valve Controller (SVC)

If the controller is internally overheating and cannot be cooled, replacement of the SVC is typically required.
