Case IH 15226 – Steering Valve Controller (SVC): Steering valve controller 5 Volt supply too low.

This code triggers when the steering valve controller measures a voltage of less than 4.65 V on its 5 V reference circuit, specifically at connector C361, pin 11. A drop below 4.65V typically indicates a short to ground in the wiring harness, a failed sensor pulling the voltage down, or an internal failure within the controller's power supply.

   Verify the voltage at connector C361 pin 11 using a digital multimeter while the key is ON to confirm it is below 4.65V.

   Disconnect shared sensors (such as the primary wheel angle sensor) one at a time. If the voltage at C361 pin 11 jumps back to approximately 5.0V, the disconnected sensor is internally shorted.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading from connector C361 for chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation that could cause a short to ground.

   Check the Steering Valve Controller for clean, tight ground connections and proper battery voltage supply, as poor grounds can cause internal reference voltages to drop.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Controller

   Locate the Steering Valve Controller (usually mounted near the steering valve block or under the cab floor, depending on the model).

   Repair Wiring/Sensors

   If your diagnostics revealed a shorted wire on the C361 pin 11 circuit, repair the wire using an OEM-approved splice. If a sensor was shorted, replace the sensor.

   Replace the Controller

   If the wiring harness is completely isolated (unplugged from all sensors) and the controller still fails to output 5V at pin 11, the controller has failed internally. Unbolt the module, disconnect the C361 harness, and install the new Steering Valve Controller.

   Reconnect the battery. If the Steering Valve Controller was replaced, you will need to use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to flash the correct software (e.g., software version 2.02) and recalibrate the steering/wheel angle sensors.

   Clear the 15226 fault code from the system and test drive the machine to ensure auto-guidance and steering operate correctly.
