This code indicates a Controller Area Network (CAN) bus communication failure. Specifically, the module responsible for steering (often the Steering Valve Controller or Central Control Module) has stopped receiving the expected steering control data messages from the Transmission Control Unit (TCU).

   Check for companion codes to see if the TCU is completely offline (e.g., 15237 Vehicle speed sensor message lost, 15242 Steering control message offline)

   Verify power and ground at the battery cables and terminals to ensure modules are not dropping off the CAN bus due to low voltage

   Inspect the fuse panel for blown fuses, specifically the 5-amp fuses that supply wake-up power to the TCU and Steering Valve Controller

   Power Cycle the Machine

   Inspect the wiring harness running between the TCU and the Steering Valve Controller. Look for pinch points, chafing, or melted wires, particularly where the harness routes near the transmission housing or cab pivot points.

   Back-probe the TCU and Steering Valve Controller connectors to ensure they are receiving steady 12V power and have a solid ground under load.

   Replace/Reprogram

   If the wiring harness, terminating resistors, and power/ground circuits are all intact, the TCU or the Steering Valve Controller may have suffered an internal failure. Replacing these modules will require a dealer to flash the correct firmware and perform steering/transmission calibrations using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST).
