Case IH 15246 - AST – Steering Valve Controller (SVC) or Advanced Steering Configuration controller: Incorrect steering valve controller configuration - Auxiliary steering device enabled - invalid CRC or message sequence

The steering valve controller is detecting a configuration mismatch or data corruption (invalid Cyclic Redundancy Check or message sequence) specifically related to the auxiliary steering device settings.

   Verify if the tractor is physically equipped with an auxiliary steering device to rule out a configuration mismatch

   Connect the electronic service tool (EST) and verify the software versions on the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) and the Advanced Steering Configuration controller dataset

   Check the CAN bus communication lines between the Steering Valve Controller and the main vehicle network for loose connections, corrosion, or wiring damage

   Connect EST

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the tractor's diagnostic port.

   Navigate to SVC configuration

   Navigate to the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) configuration menu.

   Review and update configuration

   Review the current configuration settings. If the "Auxiliary steering device" is incorrectly enabled, disable it and save the configuration.

   Re-flash controller

   If the configuration is correct but the CRC error persists, re-flash the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) with the latest OEM software and reload the Advanced Steering Configuration controller dataset.

   Perform steering calibration

   Perform a steering calibration procedure as outlined in the service manual to ensure the controller syncs properly with the steering valve spool.

   Clear codes and test

   Clear the fault codes and cycle the key power. Test drive the tractor to verify that fault code 15246 does not return.

   Replace controller

   If the controller refuses to accept the flash or drops its configuration again, the physical Steering Valve Controller unit must be replaced.
