Case IH 15247 - AST – MTA CCM or APH: Incorrect steering valve controller configuration - Auxiliary steering device enabled - NO invalid flag value/invalid setpoint
Issue description
A configuration error within the AST (Auxiliary Steering / Auto-Guidance) subsystem indicating the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) has detected an invalid configuration flag or an invalid setpoint while the auxiliary steering device (auto-steer) is enabled.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- MAXXUM T4E
- VESTRUM CVX
- AFS Connect Magnum Tractors (Models 180, 200, 220, 240, 250, 280, 310, 340, 380)
- Vestrum CVX Series (Models 100, 110, 120, 130)
- Farmall Series (115U, 40-45-50 with CVT)
- Maxxum Series (Stage V Mid-Range architecture)
- Puma Series (Stage V Mid-Range architecture)
Check the cause
Check for related steering valve controller configuration codes (e.g., 15244 for boot-up timeout, 15245 for message lost, or 15246 for invalid CRC) which might indicate a broader CAN communication issue rather than just a setpoint error.
Verify the AST subsystem configuration by entering the diagnostic mode via the instrument cluster H menus (navigate to the R1 module, menu H3, and select the AST system).
Verify that the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) and Advanced Steering Configuration controller dataset are running the correct, up-to-date software versions (e.g., SVC software version 2.02).
Repair steps
Access Diagnostic Menus
Using the instrument cluster switches, navigate to the H menus. Go to the R1 module, menu H3, and select the AST system (the lower LCD should display 'ch - - ').
Recalibrate Steering
Perform the technical release of the steering calibration in the AST system. This often clears invalid setpoint flags caused by memory glitches or recent hydraulic work.
Reflash/Update Software
If the configuration remains invalid, use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to reflash the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) software and reload the Advanced Steering Configuration controller dataset.
Module Replacement
If the controller fails to accept the flash or calibration (indicating a hardware EEPROM failure), the Steering Valve Controller unit or the internal hydrostatic steering pump assembly must be replaced.
