15250

Case IH 15250 – Steering Valve Controller: Steering valve spool greater than command.

Issue description

The actual position of the steering valve spool is more than 135 counts greater than the value commanded by the controller. This indicates a mismatch between where the controller is telling the steering valve spool to be and where it actually is.

Applies to these machines

  • Steiger T4B
  • Case IH Farmall 40, 45, and 50 Tractors
  • Case IH Farmall 115U Efficient Power Tractors

Check the cause

  1. Verify that the steering valve controller is configured for the correct steering valve type, as incorrect configurations can trigger related steering valve faults.

  2. Inspect the steering valve for physical binding, contamination, or mechanical failure inside the valve that would prevent the spool from moving to its commanded position.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the steering valve and the steering valve controller for corrosion, shorts, or open circuits that could distort the position sensor feedback.

Repair steps

  1. Replace components

Replace the Steering Valve or the Steering Controller if the spool is physically sticking or the internal position sensor has failed.

  2. Perform calibration

Perform a software calibration of the steering system using the dealer diagnostic tool (eTIM / HH menus).
