This code indicates a software-to-hardware mismatch. The steering controller's programmed configuration does not match the physical steering valve type installed on the tractor, or the controller has lost its correct configuration data for the specific valve.

   Identify the Installed Valve: Physically inspect the steering control valve on the tractor to verify its part number and manufacturer (e.g., Danfoss).

   Check for Recent Service: Determine if the steering valve, steering controller, or external guidance system was recently replaced or updated, which commonly triggers a configuration mismatch.

   Check Active vs. Stored Codes: Navigate to the diagnostics menu (Settings > Tractor > Diagnostic Trouble Codes) to see if 15261 is an active fault or a stored fault from a previous calibration attempt.

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the tractor's diagnostic port.
