Case IH 15262 – Steering Valve Controller: Synchronization between steering valve main and safety controllers failed during the cut-off solenoid test.

The steering valve controller contains two internal microprocessors (a "main" and a "safety" controller) for redundancy. During the automated self-test of the steering cut-off solenoid, the two controllers failed to synchronize their data or timing. This indicates an internal communication failure, a voltage drop, or a physically stuck cut-off solenoid.

   Check the machine's battery voltage and ground connections to the steering valve controller for momentary voltage drops during the self-test

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector specifically going to the steering cut-off solenoid for corrosion, backed-out pins, or chafing

   Perform a spool movement test via the EST to see if the cut-off solenoid is mechanically stuck open or closed

   Connect the Diagnostic Tool

   Plug the CNH EST into the machine's diagnostic port and pull all active and stored codes.

   Address Solenoid/Sync Failure

   Clear the fault codes and cycle the key to force the controller to run its boot-up self-test.

   Test cut-off solenoid

   If the code immediately returns, disconnect the cut-off solenoid and test its resistance with a multimeter. Replace the solenoid if it is out of spec or shorted.

   Replace Steering Valve Assembly

   If the solenoid and wiring are good, the internal safety controller has failed. The entire Steering Valve Assembly / Controller will need to be replaced.

   Recalibration

   Whenever a steering valve controller is reconfigured or replaced, you must perform the steering angle sensor and steering valve calibration procedures using the EST before returning the machine to the customer.
