Case IH 15274 – Steering Valve Controller (SVC) and Steering Redundant Controller (SRC): Steering wheel sensor position crosscheck between the steering valve main and safety controllers failed

The system is receiving conflicting data regarding the absolute position or speed of the steering wheel because the position data crosscheck between the Steering Valve Controller (SVC) and the Steering Redundant Controller (SRC) does not match.

   Check for related steering fault codes (such as 15275, 15276, or 15277) that might isolate the issue

   Inspect the Steering Wheel Position Sensor (SASA) to verify it is securely mounted and capable of continuous 360-degree rotation without physical binding

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the steering wheel position sensor, SVC, and SRC for corrosion, loose pins, or chafed wires

   Check the software versions of the SVC and SRC, as outdated software (older than version 2.02) can cause crosscheck failures

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery before servicing electro-hydraulic steering components.

   Clean and Reseat Connectors

   Disconnect the electrical plugs at the steering wheel position sensor and the steering valve controllers. Clean the contacts with electronic cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and securely reconnect them. Clear the code and test operation.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring is intact but the crosscheck continues to fail, remove the steering column covers, unbolt the SASA sensor from the steering unit, and install a replacement.

   Replace the Controller

   If a new sensor and verified wiring do not resolve the fault, replace the Steering Valve Controller.

   Recalibrate

   After replacing the sensor or the controller, use the Case IH diagnostic tool to perform a steering angle calibration and verify the Advanced Steering Configuration dataset.
